FACE CLAIM Tokyo Ghoul - Kaneki Ken
MEMBER GROUP Daemon
Contrary to most, Rik is a rather sane and passive daemon. Besides his fascination with beauty and his obsession with painting, he sleeps. His life revolves around his art, his paints, and he rarely takes the time to do much else, and never makes plans with anyone or anything. He prefers to travel at night, enjoying the moonlight, which tends to highlight the most important features around, versus the sunlight which shines over everything. He is interested in the contrast of shadows, and as he travels he sketches as much as possible.
He doesn't follow the traditional steps of the Daemon. He isn't after power or death, he only wants to enjoy life around him and keeps to himself for the most part. His eye does tend to make people uneasy so he covers it with a patch unless he's completely alone. He doesn't travel around in his true form, which is more of a black wisp with glowing red eyes, but rather takes a humanoid form so he can potentially talk to others without freaking them out.
Rik enjoys philosophy and has random quotes and passages he will randomly throw out. He also enjoys debating with others, his kinder form of fighting. And he has the talent to hone in on other peoples insecurities, or pick out the little bits of people that annoy them. He does have a decent heart, ignores others when he works, and can drink pounds of alcohol and never feel intoxicated.

Rik doesn't remember being born. He just existed one day, and he never questioned how it was possible. He fought because that is what he was made for. His claws were sharp and his teeth jagged, and he was meant to kill and to not ask why. His form changed over time, at first he was small and seemingly insignificant. But as he killed, as he fed from the death and destruction he caused he became larger, and meaner. He became more than others, he was strong and powerful and as time continued on he felt indestructible.
But even the most powerful get weary after awhile. Even those who kill without a thought start to think. They start to feel something other than hatred and fear from their masters. They start to feel love and misery, confusion and in some odd moments, peace.
It was in one of these rare and strange moments of peace that Rik decided he had had enough. For centuries he had been a being with only one purpose: To kill or be killed. And so far he had done a pretty decent job at the just killing part. But he noticed that the pain and misery weren't doing it for him anymore. The more he killed, the less he enjoyed it. And the less he enjoyed it, the angrier he became at his masters.
He started to feel things that in his centuries of killing he never had felt before. He started to feel sadness at the death around him, wonder at the beauty of the forests and mountains, fear at the thought that he was changing and wasn't content like his brothers and sisters.
In the silence of night he slipped away from the encampment he shared with some of his fellow daemons. As a black cloud he wandered out into the forests, letting the beauty of the moonlit trees wash over him. It was something he had never truly experienced before, and he enjoyed it. Soon he was no longer covered by the forest, but was in a field, across from him was a small village of weres. Tiny things compared to him, without much thought he wandered closer, keeping a safe distance in case someone should see him. Rik wasn't there for a fight, he just wanted to watch.
Before him was a life he had never known. He had been bred to fight, to bleed, to kill. His one purpose was to make the wyrms more powerful, everything he did and everything he was, was because of the wyrms. And while watching that village go about it's usual business a rage built in Rik's chest. Not his normal rage that he saved for the battlefield. This one was for the wyrms who had created him. Who had put a blade in his hand and told him to kill. Who had turned him into this cloud of death and sorrow. He was angry that he had never had the chance to live like these weres did.
And before he knew it, he was back at his camp, his fellow daemon brothers fast asleep in their various forms. With his rage taking charge he killed them all. Left none alive and then burnt the area to the ground. Watching the fire, Rik felt a tiny bit of guilt for what he had done. His brothers and sisters were in the same predicament as he. But he knew that none of them would feel the way he did. That protecting life and sharing in it's beauty was more important than killing.
It was what they were made for.
Going back to his commander he tried to slaughter the entire garrison. But he didn't make it far, and lost an eye in the process. The wyrm who had been his master for many years looked at him in disgust. He ordered for his brothers to kill him. But none moved. They were confused by the orders, never had they been asked to kill one of their own. In the confusion, Rik broke free from his bonds and escaped. For months he traveled in his daemon form, trying out new ways to conceal himself. Birds were too small, deer to scrawny. Eventually he happened upon a human city and for days he watched everyone go about their daily lives.
He chose a young boy who found happiness in rain puddles and playing with the street cats. It took Rik a few tries, but he finally got the shape right and kept it as his own. Over the years he took up painting and sometimes even dancing. He learned how to store his magic in his paint brushes, allowing the rage and hatred he still felt to be locked in the small pieces of wood. He wasn't completely cured of his daemon life, but he was finding happiness in pretending to be human.

ABILITY/POWER
Rik, and his ancestors, have the special ability to create different elements and attacks with paint. Every color has it’s own special ability and with different combination's of colors, the right brush stroke and the correct spell, he has the ability to turn a painted red rose into a fire ball-o-death.
Well maybe not that drastic, but he can guarantee you won’t see it coming.
[attr="class","canonback"] [attr="class","canonname"]BASIC COLORS [attr="class","canondesc"]Red: The color for fire and love, but in Rik’s case it all depends on how he wishes to use the color, in what context you might say. Depending on his mood he may either use this color to create a love connection between two people, or to start a house fire to watch others squirm. Blue: The color for water and ife, using blue by itself could mean destruction, whereas using it with other color’s could mean life. Yellow: The color for electricity and heat, this color is rarely used, especially by itself, because it’s one of the only ones that needs some nature backing. The only way for Rik to create electricity is to have a storm, raging off the page. And he has yet to perfect creating storms. |
[attr="class","canonback"] [attr="class","canonname"]COMBINED COLORS [attr="class","canondesc"]Orange: [red and yellow] This color is normally used for fires, with a one and a half brush stroke he can bring the two fused colors off the page and strengthen a preceding attack created from either, red or yellow. Green: [blue and Yellow] This is an earth element color and is normally used to create nature around him, but can also be used in attacks. With a previous blue attack, adding this fused color, he can create vines and leaves to wrap around his opponents. Purple: [blue and red] This color is rarely used, only because it has no real function, except to turn a fire attack into a water one or vice-versa. It has no unique attack of it's own and besides making pretty flowers is normally forgotten. Pink: [red mixed with water] Pink is the only color that when created has to be diluted. As such the power associated with this color is not as strong as the others, such as orange or green. Pink is normally used for carnations, or other flowers, and is also a symbol for love. When used with a stronger color of red, and with the proper brushstrokes, it can create an aura that causes people to fall in love with each other and make those already in love to remain that way. Brown: [blue, yellow and red] Like purple, brown has no attack function of it's own. It's used to defend Rik, creating wooden walls or weapons for him to use. Of course any weapons created rarely last much longer than a few minutes in his hands. Black: [red mixed with coal)) Black is used as a void, to fill the places where color does not fit. It's the opposite of white and normally is used for dark purposes. If Rik were to create a fire, adding in the black would keep it burning longer as well as dousing out a water attack fairly quickly. White: [no colors; white is purity and therefore has no colors within it] It's also the absence of colors and used to counter-attack any of his own attacks. White is fresh and by using it any damage done by Rik's paints would be reversed and therefore fixed. As though nothing had happened in the first place. |
[attr="class","canonback"] [attr="class","canonname"]TYPES OF BRUSHES [attr="class","canondesc"]Angular: Flat, short-length hairs, set with longer hairs at one end. [attr="class","canonback"] [attr="class","canonname"]BRUSH STROKES [attr="class","canondesc"]Vertical: This stroke has any attacks moving forwards, first up to leave the page and then straight ahead to attack the opponent. Horizontal: This stroke has any attacks moving either to the left or the right. It leaves one side first before leaving the other and attacks opponents to his sides. Circular: This stroke is used as offense and defense. In defense it wraps around Rik, in which ever direction he wishes, and attacks opponents behind him, as well as in front of him, 360 degrees. In offense it acts as a barrier around Rik, protecting him and his easel from attacks. Diagonal: These attacks go towards the sky and low into the ground. They also help to strengthen some attacks that need a little extra 'oamph' to work at the best capacity. Half Stroke: These strokes keep the paints from leaving the page, they are harmless and used when he is painting a scene he particularly likes. One and A Half Stroke: These are the strokes that help his attacks leap off the page. With a full stroke he meets the edge of the page and with the extra half the paint jumps from the page and towards which ever direction Rik desires. |
[attr="class","canonback"] [attr="class","canonname"]SPELLS [attr="class","canondesc"]Unfortunately Rik needs just a little bit of extra help to change his paints into something more than bits of water and dust. So he uses a few words, quite simple, yet very powerful when added in with the paints and brush strokes. Antaa: Fire, used for fire attacks. Maa: Earth, used for attacks dealing with earth. Tuuli: Wind, used for wind attacks. Vesi: Water, only for those attacks involving water. Elama: Life, used during earth based attacks when he wishes to create something to either attack or just to look pretty, versus just causing a quake of some sort. Rakkaus: Love, obviously this is more of a technique used to create a romantic air or a special connection between two things, not so much as an attack. Kipu: Pain, this is a word that can be added after - mostly - any of the other ones to create an extra boost to the attack. Iloita: Rejoice, this is used to create a peaceful air about every one. Pelko: Fear, nightmarish images could pop up from Rik's paper, should he mutter this word while angry or when adding the word anger after or before it. However he hasn't mastered being able to create actual monsters and get them off the page, so it's rarely muttered. Ilo: Joy, to create happiness around him, or when dealing with children, it causes them to calm down. Suututtaa: Anger, only used when Rik is really ticked off at something. It adds a giant boost to any attack and can cause that attack to get out of hand. Rohkeus: Courage, used to add courage to others around him, to give those who are not used to fighting the mind set to fight. Urhea: Brave, to make those who are cowardly, brave. And yes there is a difference between courage and brave, courage is used to help others in fights or to do something more. Bravery is added to help others explore darker areas and to gain more upon them personally. |
